5 Great NYC BBQ Events to Attend in 2022

In 2021, the NYC metro area saw the return of many delicious barbecue events that weren’t possible to have in 2020, including Brisket King NYC. Most of these events showcased up-and-coming pitmasters, brought together the best of the barbecue community, and allowed consumers to taste some amazing food.
If you want to experience some incredible smoked meats and to meet some of the top barbecue talent the country has to offer, you’ll want to grab a ticket to the next events that are scheduled for this year.
Here are five great BBQ events you should try to attend in 2022.
January 29, 2022 — Beer, Bourbon, & BBQ Festival
The Beer Bourbon & BBQ Festival in Brooklyn, now in its 13th year, will bring together hundreds of barbecue lovers, bourbon drinkers, and everything in between to the Brooklyn Expo Center in Greenpoint. (Read more about the last Beer, Bourbon, & BBQ event here.) A VIP ticket to the event includes a souvenir tasting glass for the many bourbon vendors, three tastings at the Shrine of Swine (hog, beef, and a surprise meat), and many Southern BBQ dishes. General admission tickets have unlimited bourbon tastings but only a la carte BBQ options, so I always advise people to grab a VIP ticket so they can try everything the event has to offer. GET TICKETS HERE.
April 20, 2022 — Brisket King NYC 2022
Last year’s Brisket King NYC felt like a breath of fresh air because the 2020 edition was canceled on short notice because it coincided with the beginning of the pandemic. The last edition of Brisket King from Food Karma Projects brought together hundreds of barbecue lovers to Pig Beach’s location in Brooklyn to enjoy top barbecue bites from New York and beyond. Expect a lot more brisket and creative dishes at 2022’s event, which will also be held at Pig Beach Brooklyn. GET TICKETS HERE.
April 30, 2022 — 2nd Annual Jeff Michner BBQ Benefit
Some of the country’s biggest names in BBQ will reconvene for the 2nd Annual Jeff Michner BBQ Benefit, which will be held at the new Pig Beach location in Queens. The first Jeff Michner BBQ Benefit, held in honor of the late pitmaster Jeff Michner, was hosted in 2019 and featured amazing talent from NYC and beyond. Tickets will go on sale around February 1 and will sell out. MORE INFO HERE.
May 28, 2022 — Rib King NYC 2022
If you love ribs, you won’t want to miss Rib King NYC 2022 from Food Karma Projects. The event will be held again at the beautiful Snug Harbor Cultural Center on Staten Island, and it will feature 15+ pitmasters cooking up ribs, sides, and other BBQ dishes. Rib King 2021 had a ton of talent from the tri-state area serving up crazy good smoked meats, and it will be hugely similar this year, with pop-ups and newcomers getting a chance to prove themselves. GET TICKETS HERE.
September 10, 2022 — Pig Island NYC 2022
One of the best ways to close out summer is to pig out at the annual Pig Island BBQ event from Food Karma Projects. The event celebrates local farms and locally raised hogs, and you get to try some truly great ribs, whole hog, and pork dishes to boot. The 2022 edition will also be held at Snug Harbor Cultural Center on Staten Island, offering plenty of room to spread out and make a picnic out of the whole day. GET TICKETS HERE.
