5 Delicious NYC BBQ Specials for the Super Bowl

With Super Bowl LVI coming up on February 13, now’s a good time to start thinking about all the delicious wings, ribs, sliders, beans, chili, nachos, and more you can have while watching the action. Thankfully, several local BBQ restaurants have specials and catering for the game. And two joints also have packages for watching the game in person.

No matter who you are rooting for (or against), here are five NYC-area BBQ joints with catering and/or special packages for the Super Bowl in 2022.

Blue Smoke
Blue Smoke in Battery Park City has begun to advertise its extensive and varied catering packages for the Super Bowl. One of the packages with the most bang-for-buck is the “Blue Smoke Backyard Barbecue Picnic.” It serves 6 people and includes pulled pork, brisket, a rack of baby back ribs, sides, cookies, and more. And don’t forget to get orders of Alabama white wings and chipotle wings too. MORE INFO HERE.

Don't sleep on the smoked wings from Dinosaur Bar-B-Que.

Dinosaur Bar-B-Que
The Brooklyn location of Dinosaur Bar-B-Que has picked out a few great items from their menu to create a few “Game Day Packages.” These include ribs by the rack, slide and sandwich packs, and side dishes. But if I could only order one thing, it would be the awesome smoked wings, which come with seven different sauce options. (The hottest sauce option is “Devil’s Duel,” which works thematically with the Big Game.) MORE INFO HERE.

Hill Country has an in-person Super Bowl experience that will let you stuff your face all game for just $60.

Hill Country Barbecue Market
The only local BBQ joint (so far) that is offering an all-you-can-eat in-person Super Bowl experience is Hill Country. The long-celebrated joint is offering four courses of smoked meats and gameday snacks (plus surprises) and dessert for $60 per person. If you don’t feel like joining the in-person party, you can also order catering from pitmaster Ash Fulk and the HC crew. MORE INFO HERE.

Mighty Quinn's has one special Super Bowl package but also lots of other catering options.

Mighty Quinn’s BBQ
While Mighty Quinn’s BBQ has a number of catering packages, it also has created one just for Super Bowl Sunday. The package feeds six and includes brisket, pulled pork, rack of spare ribs, mac and cheese, vinegar slaw, 10 slider rolls, pickled veggies, and BBQ sauce. Orders must be placed by Friday, Feb. 11, and be picked up on game day. MORE INFO HERE.

Pig Beach NYC
I watched the Chiefs win the Super Bowl two years ago at Pig Beach in Brooklyn, so it will always have a soft spot in my heart. (Well, for that and the wedding.) Pig Beach has three different catering packages built up for the Super Bowl, for both dine-in and takeout. My favorite is the “Dirty Hands,” with pork and chicken sliders, smash burgers, and more. You can also add the killer Hatch Vinegar Wings onto any order too, so you should totally do that. Super Bowl fun will be at both the Brooklyn and Queens locations, for the record.  MORE INFO HERE.

Hope you all get some amazing grub for the big game in a few weeks!

EAT ALL ABOUT IT

The new Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster Barbeque in Hoboken, NJ received a less-than-flattering from Eater NY. (Photo by Robert Sietsema / Eater NY)

Here are the top BBQ and related food news stories you need to know about this week:

  • Eater NY food critic (and an avid fan of BBQ) Robert Sietsema stopped by the new Myron Mixon’s Pitmaster Barbeque in Hoboken, NJ. Unfortunately, he mostly did not enjoy what he found. His favorite item there was the “griner sandwich ($15): a bun piled with layers of beef brisket and mac and cheese.” (One note I would add is that it can take time for new BBQ joints to iron out the kinks, so fingers crossed this new joint keeps getting better. I’ll have to stop in soon as well.) READ HERE

  • Ed Randolph of Handsome Devil BBQ in Newburgh recently “named top pitmaster at the Poolside BBQ Battle, held at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Wine & Food Festival.” READ HERE.

  • Mighty Quinn’s BBQ has struck a deal with franchisees Matthew Kouskalis and Nick Galanis to open two new Brooklyn locations in 2022. They will be located in Williamsburg and Downtown Brooklyn, according to QSR MagazineREAD HERE

  • Tasting Table recently visited Philadelphia and tried 13 Philly cheesesteaks in 24 hours. After all the tastes, one was the clear winner. READ HERE
